Hawthorne in Portland Oregon is an area of Southeast Portland that runs along SE Hawthorne Blvd., particularly between SE 28th and 50rd ave. It borders along the Ladd’s Addition and Buckman neighborhoods to the west and Mt. Tabor borders Hawthorne just to the east. It is known for being a younger, free thinking, bike-friendly, hipsters neighborhood. The Portland home for sale in Hawthorne are creative and colorful and sure to please many. You are sure to feel a fun and funky vibe while cruising the Blvd. Also be sure to drive across the Hawthorne bridge, it is one of the oldest surviving “lift bridges” in the world.

Hawthorne Boulevard was named after Dr. J.C. Hawthorne, the co-founder of Oregon’s first mental hospital. The road was originally named Asylum Avenue, but in 1883 the hospital moved to Salem and the street was named in honor of Dr. Hawthorne
When driving around the Southeast Portland area, be sure to visit the Hawthorne neighborhood. Also, drive around the residential streets and view many of the beautiful original and restored homes. You will be amazed at the gorgeous architecture and exterior landscaping. The Hawthorne district can make relocating to Portland a creative and fun for the whole family adventure.

I have been living off of my Organic fruit and vegetable garden for the last 25 years. I don\'t go produce shopping for 8 months of the year. I also have some of the most healthiest and happiest chickens from which I get fresh eggs daily.
