The world headquarters of Nike Inc. located in Beaverton Oregon, oversees more than 30,000 employees in many different countries, many of whom reside in and around the Portland Metropolitan Area. The company was founded in 1964 under the name Blue Ribbon Sports by Bill Bowerman and Philip Knight. The name was changed to Nike Inc. in 1978 and today, the company that once made most of its sales from the back of a car, brought in over 18 billion dollars in revenue in 2008. The Nike World Campus, covers 177 acres and is comprised of sixteen buildings all of which are named after famous athletes. The Campus is also home to several gyms and in the center is a 6 acre lake which is home to both ducks and geese.

At over 30,000 square feet it set new records for interactive customer space when it opened in 1990. The pearl district is located in the Portland City center in NW Portland. It is, in my opinion, one of the most walkable neighborhoods in all of Portland. Every direction you walk, there is something to do such as shops, restaurants, pubs, cafe’s, art galleries, live music, museums, boutiques, grocery, clothing and everything else you can imagine under the sun. Located just east of Nob hill, People moving into The Pearl District should take the day off, buy a new pair of shoes and get ready to explore. According to the Pearl District Business Association, Thomas Augustine, a local gallery owner, coined the name Pearl District more than 10 years ago to suggest that its industrial buildings were like crusty oysters, and that the galleries and artists’ lofts within were like pearls.
The Pearl district is located just north of downtown Portland between West Burnside Street on the south, the Willamette River on the north, NW Broadway on the east and the Interstate 405 freeway on the west.
The Portland Streetcar serves the Pearl District and runs a 4.8 continuous loop from Portland State University District to Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital at NW 23rd Avenue. The Streetcar connects to the MAX rail line which runs from Downtown Portland to Gresham to the east and Hillsboro to the west.
Let’s not forget Powell’s Books, a major Portland icon and is one of the world’s largest independent bookstores in the United States and occupies a full city block between NW 10th and 11th Avenues and Burnside and Couch Streets. Many decaying industrial warehouses in downtown Portland in The Pearl were converted into luxurious properties within the last decade. You won’t find many streets lined with single family residential homes as you would find in most other Portland neighborhoods. The district includes most of the historic North Park Blocks (1869) as well as Jamison Square (2002) which is built around a fountain which simulates a tidal pool (very popular with toddlers) and Tanner Springs Park (2005) is a recreated natural area featuring wetlands, a walking trail, and creek. There are so many shops that run up and down the streets that it would be futile to try to list them all. Nob Hill is located in the heart of historic Northwest Portland Oregon. Nob hill is located near The pearl district and downtown Portland and along the West hills. If you are currently living in Portland or thinking of a Portland relocation, Nob Hill should be one neighborhood not to miss. Portland’s alternative school, Metropolitan Learning Center is located in the Nob Hill neighborhood and serves as a haven to promote experiential learning as a method of developing students’ skills.
There is a 4.8-mile loop of the Portland Streetcar system that links the Nob Hill neighborhood to the Pearl District, the Downtown Cultural District, Portland State University and the South Waterfront area. The locals enjoy Couch Park, which Includes a basketball court, disabled access restroom, dog off-leash area, paths – paved, playground, and statue or public art. Another local park favorite is Wallace Park. Things you may find in the Nob Hill neighborhood are Besaw’s Equilibria Wellness Center, Linfield College Portland campus, Pizza Schmizza, Ken’s Artisan Bakery, MUU-MUU’s, Lucy’s Table, Stella’s, Serratto Restaurant, Gilt Jewelery Pastini Pastaria, 3-D Center of Art and Photography … and so many shops that I won’t have enough room on this blog to put them all.

Chief Joseph Elementary School – Strong arts, music, and academic programs
Chief Joseph Elementary School in the Portland School District in Arbor Lodge, North Portland features the strong arts, music, and academic programs. The school’s student-centered learning environment and focus on teaching study skills and conflict resolution makes it a great school to choose when planning to relocate to Portland.
Music and art are incorporated into daily classroom activities here and a full time PE specialist is on staff to promote fitness. Beverly Cleary school, once called Hollyrood Fernwood School in the Grant Park neighborhood is a public K-2 school in the Portland School District that features many forward-thinking programs that get your child involved in their education and the Portland community. With a strong focus on the arts, literacy, and science, the school is a great start to a well-rounded education.
This two campus school features single grade classrooms and three full-day kindergarten classes. There is an active tutor-mentor program with Grant High School, and the school works strongly to integrate literacy and the performing and visual arts.
Beverly Cleary School boasts a year-round eco-science garden project that promotes science education with hands-on learning. There is very strong parent involvement at the school that supports many events such as Spring Fling, Run for the Arts, and Field Day.
