Wilson High School in the Portland School District, located in the Hillsdale neighborhood is a public high school that focuses mainly on academic excellence in the transitional sense. The school offers AP classes in a wide variety of subjects including English, science, mathematics, computer science, music and art, foreign language and social sciences. These courses prepare students to take tests for college credit and are in line with the fact that 80 percent of its graduates go on to some type of college. Academic readiness is reinforced through the Freshman Humanities Seminar which helps freshman become acclimated to the high school experience. Wilson also offers a varied sports program as well as Speech and Debate, Model United Nations, the National Honor Society and student publications.

Wilson is a large school, with over 1500 students and parent reviews on greatschools.net indicate that sometimes students fall through the cracks. The level of discipline and parental involvement may be lower than some schools but a student review indicated that the rigorous academic program more than prepared her for college. Overall greatschools.net gave Wilson High School 9/10 and parent reviews averaged out to 4/5. Wilson High School is located at 1151 SW Vermont St. in the Hillsdale neighborhood.
