Astor Elementary School in the Portland School District is a K-5 school that combines conflict management learning with early intervention and prevention to create students ready to succeed in their education.

The Reading Partners program brings together students of different grade levels to work together and the Reading Recovery program in 1st grade provides intensive one-on-one reading training. Classroom computers, a computer lab, and internet access allow students to use instructional technology to research, write, and learn.

Talented and Gifted (TAG) coursework is offered, as well as remedial and learning disabled classes. The school provides a focus on family concerns such as nutritional, social, and medical needs.
