The Pearl District

The pearl district is located in the Portland City center in NW Portland. It is, in my opinion, one of the most locally accessible neighborhoods in all of Portland. Pearl District Real Estate is a top commodity for people looking for spectacular views. Penthouse lofts in the Pearl and Luxury Pearl District condos for sale has been a favorite amongst people not looking for yard work or wanting a tight-nit social community.

Every direction you look, there is something to do such as shops, restaurants, pubs, cafe’s, art galleries, live music, museums, boutiques, grocery, clothing and everything else you can imagine under the sun. Located just east of Nob hill, People moving into The Pearl District should take the day off, buy a new pair of shoes and get ready to explore. According to the Pearl District Business Association, Thomas Augustine, a local gallery owner, coined the name Pearl District more than 10 years ago to suggest that its industrial buildings were like crusty oysters, and that the galleries and artists’ lofts within were like pearls.

In The Pearl District you can expect to find glorious Pearl lofts, spacious townhomes and high rise Condo’s with breathtaking views. Many decaying industrial warehouses in downtown Portland in The Pearl were converted into luxurious properties within the last decade. You won’t find many streets lined with single family residential homes as you would find in most other Portland neighborhoods. A Portland Oregon Relocation into the Pearl district, can be a bit spendy, but families from around the US move to Portland to live in the Pearl. The average sale price for property in The Pearl District is around $619,000 and average year built is around 1991 with an average square ft. of 1280.

The Pearl district is located just north of downtown Portland between West Burnside Street on the south, the Willamette River on the north, NW Broadway on the east and the Interstate 405 freeway on the west.
The Portland Streetcar serves the Pearl District and runs a 4.8 continuous loop from Portland State University District to Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital at NW 23rd Avenue. The Streetcar connects to the MAX rail line which runs from Downtown Portland to Gresham to the east and Hillsboro to the west.

Let’s not forget Powell’s Books, a major Portland icon and is one of the world’s largest independent bookstores in the United States and occupies a full city block between NW 10th and 11th Avenues and Burnside and Couch Streets. The Emerson School is in downtown Portland in the Pearl District is a K-5 charter school with good reviews.
The Pearl district includes most of the historic North Park Blocks (1869) as well as Jamison Square (2002) which is built around a fountain which simulates a tidal pool (very popular with toddlers) and Tanner Springs Park (2005) is a recreated natural area featuring wetlands, a walking trail, and creek. There are so many shops that run up and down the streets that it would be futile to try to list them all. I would suggest viewing the Walkscore map to see every walkable place of interest in the Pearl. You can also see how walkable your home address is. Search for the Walkscore icon every time you click on a property to view in The Pearl District.

Agent ImageMy introduction and education in Real Estate started back in college, 1989, in Los Angeles, California. I chose to work with M Realty because of their top of the world technology and innovative home searching website unmatched anywhere in the US. I enjoy meeting Portland locals and opening the door to so many different and unique homes to view. I also have been working with families relocating to Portland since day one as a licensed Portland Realtor. Having a vast knowledge of the Portland homes for sale, neighborhoods, schools, local places of interests and just an overall love for our city makes this job more of a passion. My past working bio consisted of other interests within public relations: An Astronomy educator for NASA and the Griffith Observatory. President/CEO of AIRTIME BOARDS snowboard company. Creator and author of KEVDIDDY children\'s music, books and videos. In my spare time I enjoy watching my beautiful boy grow, camping where you can\'t see civilization, giving star talks under a clear night sky, The White Album, brewing my own organic blueberry wine and Organic gardening. I have been living off of my Organic fruit and vegetable garden for the last 25 years. I don\'t go produce shopping for 8 months of the year. I also have some of the most healthiest and happiest chickens from which I get fresh eggs daily. It\'s a good day to live in Portland!
