The Pearl district is located just north of downtown Portland between West Burnside Street on the south, the Willamette River on the north, NW Broadway on the east and the Interstate 405 freeway on the west.
The Portland Streetcar serves the Pearl District and runs a 4.8 continuous loop from Portland State University District to Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital at NW 23rd Avenue. The Streetcar connects to the MAX rail line which runs from Downtown Portland to Gresham to the east and Hillsboro to the west.

Let’s not forget Powell’s Books, a major Portland icon and is one of the world’s largest independent bookstores in the United States and occupies a full city block between NW 10th and 11th Avenues and Burnside and Couch Streets. The Emerson School is in downtown Portland in the Pearl District is a K-5 charter school with good reviews.
The Pearl district includes most of the historic North Park Blocks (1869) as well as Jamison Square (2002) which is built around a fountain which simulates a tidal pool (very popular with toddlers) and Tanner Springs Park (2005) is a recreated natural area featuring wetlands, a walking trail, and creek. There are so many shops that run up and down the streets that it would be futile to try to list them all.
