Intel Oregon, the largest Intel site, employees over 15,000 people, which makes it the non-government employer in Oregon. Intel is located in Hillsboro in the Orenco Sunset neighborhood. With numerous sites in Washington County, the company is responsible for countless people relocating to Portland Oregon and surrounding cities; as such, the company has a large stake in the community and shows it through numerous public outreach programs. Over the past 10 years Intel has donated over 1 billion dollars and its employees have given 2 million man hours to improving education around the world.
Intel is the world’s largest semiconductor company, credited with the invention of the processor that is found in most personal computers today. The Oregon site, founded in 1974, is the largest and most comprehensive semiconductor research and manufacturing in the world.
