The world headquarters of Nike Inc. located in Beaverton Oregon, oversees more than 30,000 employees in many different countries, many of whom reside in and around the Portland Metropolitan Area. The company was founded in 1964 under the name Blue Ribbon Sports by Bill Bowerman and Philip Knight. Bowerman Drive in Beaverton in the Marlene Village/CommonWealth Neighborhood.

The Nike World Campus, covers 177 acres and is comprised of sixteen buildings all of which are named after famous athletes. The largest building on the campus, the Mia Hamm building, is home to footwear R&D as well as several employee restaurants Other buildings are named after such greats as Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and Ken Griffy Junior. The Campus is also home to several gyms and in the center is a 6 acre lake which is home to both ducks and geese.

At over 30,000 square feet it set new records for interactive customer space when it opened in 1990.
