Portland housing market report for the month of September 2010
Below are summaries of the Portland housing market, including year-to-date figures for the metro areas.
This is the Portland house market Summary report for September 2010
Median Sale Price was $240,000
Average Sale Price was $279,900
Closed Sales were 1,399
Pending Sales were 1,584
New Listings were 3,549
Active Listings were 14,714
Total Market Time was 131 days
Portland Home are still selling and in fact there were approximately 18 more homes that sold this month then last month. But last year Sept. 2009 there were 1800 closed sales as compared to only 1399 closed sales this year so it seems that we might still have a bit to go before we can surpass some of last years stats.
In just my personal opinion I believe we are going to see the end of the housing slump and in spring of 2011 things will start to pick up.

The Sapphire Hotel on Hawthorne Blvd.
Post # 33 of 101 cool Portland places – The Sapphire Hotel
The Sapphire Hotel on SE Hawthorne Blvd and 50th is one of my favorite places to enjoy for an evening out. They have a great selection of beers and wine to choose from and the menu selection is also quite tasty. I love their motto: *Eat *Drink *Kiss . The atmosphere is elegant, cool and always has a good vibe to it. The staff are beautiful and friendly and there are even couches to relax for great conversation.
As mentioned on their site – The Sapphire Hotel was originally a turn of the century seedy hotel in Portland Oregon inhabited by sailors, travelers and ladies of the night. Every Sunday night from 8pm to 10pm, Sapphire Hotel plays host to brilliant LIVE JAZZ. Always featuring local Jazz artists and never a cover charge.
The Sapphire Hotel is located in the Hawthorne District

St John’s – North Portland Real Estate at it’s best
View St. John’s homes for sale on this interactive Portland neighborhood map.
St. Johns is one of my favorite places to hang out while in North Portland. There are many great coffee shops, pubs, and restaurants that fit my style. Ive enjoyed trivia night at a couple North Portland pubs, seen live music at some great live music venues and walked the St. Johns strip down Lombard full of great places to shop. There is also the St. Johns Park at 8427 N Central St which is lovely to relax in.

A brief summary of St. Johns – Named after the quite recluse James John, “Saint” Johns was an 1843 pioneer settler of the Linnton who laid out the original eight town site in 1865. St. Johns was originally a separate incorporated city, annexed by Portland in 1915. St. Johns is bordered by both the Columbia river and the Willamette River and is pretty much as far north as North Portland goes.
Here is a list of many Portland Neighborhoods to view.
While being built, the St. John’s bridge was suppose to be one of the largest bridges of it’s kind with the longest span.
While driving west on Hwy 30, maybe towards Sauvie Island it definitely is a mesmerizing site to see. The bridge actually connects in the neighborhood Cathedral Park and not St. Johns.
St. Johns real estate is affordable for many yet still providing a great location many desire. The houses for sale in St. Johns range from Bungalows to Crafstman, Ranch’s as well as newer built townhomes.
Portland’s famous Restaurant Row on 28th
Post # 32 of 101 cool Portland Places – Restaurant Row
Restaurant Row on 28th is one of those places that make Portland GREAT!
One of the many beauties of Portland is there are so many hot-spots in pockets scattered all over Portland. I like to call them Hot Pockets
Restaurant Row is one of them. It’s on 28th st. and stretches from SE Burnside to just before NE Glisan. I personally stretch it past NE Glisan to SE Pine so we can include Bamboo Sushi as well as Pambiche.
Imagine several blocks of of great food from around the world. So many choices to pick from including the Italian cafe of La Buca, Cajun/Creole goodness of Tapalaya, Chinese taste of Chin Yen, Mediterranean bistro of Tabla, Cuban cuisine of Pambiche, Italian Ice Cream of Staccato Gelato, bakery/cafe of Crema, Tex/Mex meals of Esparza’s, vegan friendly Fonda Rosa, Bistro and bar of Clementine, Entrees and Alehouse of Spints, Pizza at Ken’s Artisan and the sustainable Bamboo Sushi. Let’s not also forget the pubs and wine bars on 28th that serve great bar food including Wine down, Holman’s, Lucky’s and one of my Portland favorites Beulahland.
What’s also great is The Laurelhurst movie theater right on the corner of NE 28th and Burnside as well as Whole Foods market right across the street. You got to love this entire area for the combination of places to go.
When you are ready to explore one of Portland fines areas full of food, desserts, drinks and good times, be sure to check out restaurant row.
Here’s to some good eating.
Cheers!
