The Alphabet Historic District, an area zoned for historic preservation running roughly from NW 24th Ave. to NW 2nd Ave., and from NW Vaughn St. to W Burnside St. It is named for the alphabetical progression of street names in the area.
Neighborhoods located within the Alphabet District are Nob Hill and The Pearl District where you can expect to find many beautiful penthouse condos and high-rise lofts. It’s also the perfect base for shopping, dining, and exploring Portland’s best attractions. Stores along NW 23rd and NW 21st. are restaurant-rich with a wide ethnic variety. There are also many high-end boutiques, trendy bars and coffee shops, a movie theater and sidewalks filled with beautiful people from all walks of life.
Several characters in Portland native Matt Groening’s television show The Simpsons have names based on the alphabetically-named streets in the Northwest District: Ned Flanders, the bully Kearney, Reverend Lovejoy, Mayor Quimby, Milhouse Van Houten (actually in North Portland), and possibly C. Montgomery Burns[ide] (also named for the large Montgomery Park, formerly Montgomery Ward, sign). Contrary to popular belief, the character Sideshow Bob Terwilliger is not named after SW Terwilliger Boulevard in Southwest Portland.

Our full day viewing houses for sale in Hawthorne and Buckman neighborhood
My clients are relocating to Portland, Oregon all the way from Portland, Maine. Portland to Portland. We spent 2 full days viewing houses for sale in the Hawthorne District as well as all Buckman neighborhood homes for sale.
They had specific criteria they gave to me. They needed minimum 3 bedrooms/2 bath, a fully fenced yard for their 2 large dogs, a basement level so the Husband can play his guitar at night, and a huge open kitchen so the wife could cook huge meals while being able to entertain her friends, inner SE Portland neighborhoods and a price range to not exceed $450,000. This was great for me because they knew what they wanted, sent it my way, and it made it easy on my end to do searches for exactly what they were looking for. We spent the weekend previewing homes for sale in Buckman and Hawthorne. After approximately viewing 8 homes on Saturday and 7 homes on Sunday, we found the perfect home. That home actually was home # 4 on Saturday, and they new it, but I suggested we continue to view the rest on the list of homes just to be sure. Abernathy, Colonial Heights and the Clinton Real Estate were other neighborhoods we viewed.
It was a beautiful Craftsman style home from the 1920′s with original built-ins throughout.
Oak hardwood floors and a fully remodeled kitchen with island. Box-beam ceilings, Updated plumbing, furnace and electrical. The basement was fully finished and had a media center with surround-sound speakers already installed. A sunroom off of the backyard that gave them visions of starting a book club meeting in that room. Fruit trees of figs, pears and cherries lined the back fence. A block away from restaurants, cafe’s and shops. They were in love.
We put in an offer and negotiated down for an excellent price. The home inspection report was solid with only minor cosmetic issues. We closed on the home without a hitch and I saw their dream come true when I handed them the keys. Their eyes were glowing as if they just won the lottery.

I also have some of the most healthiest and happiest chickens from which I get fresh eggs daily.
