Mt. Tabor homes for sale – Portland
View Mt. Tabor Homes for sale
As a licensed Portland Oregon Realtor clients and I recently viewed some homes for sale in the Mt. Tabor neighborhood.
I was excited about this day of viewing for Mt. Tabor is such a lovely neighborhood in Inner SE Portland. We started off our home viewing near SE Belmont and 55th and saw a lovely 3 bedroom 2 bathroom bungalow. The basement level was fully finished and led out to the backyard which had planter box’s filled with organic vegetables. The living room had built-ins that were made with style and fit the home perfectly.
We then ventured off to the base of MT. Tabor to a luxury grand 5 bedroom home with over 4000 Sq.FT. and a spectacular view of greenspace and nature. Country living in the middle of the city. The kitchen was remodeled using high end appliances and solid granite counter top. The cooking area was open and free to be able to cook with the option to have many cooks in the kitchen.
We then drove south on SE 60th past the Mt. Tabor reservoir towards the East side of MT. Tabor off of SE 71st and saw a mid-century modern with a finished daylight basement that had everything one would need to have your own apartment including a separate entrance. The bedrooms were spacious with tall ceilings and the home was built with energy efficiency in mind. The dining room had a built in nook with plenty of large windows to allow the brilliant warm sunlight.
A few places of interest in the Mt. Tabor community to give a shout out to: Mt. Tabor Wine, Yoga Union, and Mt. Tabor Theater.

Boise Elliot homes for sale, Portland Oregon
View Boise homes for sale
View Elliot homes for sale.
Portland’s Boise neighborhood and Elliot neighborhood sit one on top of another with part in NE Portland and part in North Portland with Boise on top. I have seen hundred’s of these homes for sale in Portland Oregon and I can definitely understand the draw into these neighborhoods. I have spent many fine days doing one fun activity or another and very familiar with so much of the charm that draws people here.
Dated 11/09 The average sale price for the Elliot neighborhood is $327,000 with an average Sq. Ft home of 1950. The average home price for Boise is around $350,000 with average square ft of of 2247. I have found many homes in the Boise/Elliot neighborhoods to be built around the turn of the century. Victorians, Bungalows and old Foursquare homes some with unfinished basements and many that are fully finished with tall ceilings, legal Egress windows and large family rooms. There is plenty to do in these walkable neighborhoods and much to enjoy.

MLK Blvd. borders Boise/Elliot along the east and the up and coming Mississippi ave. is booming with business’s that have revitalized the Boise neighborhood. The popular Mississippi street fair is a local favorite and now over 40 business have popped up on Mississippi ave, some including The rebuilding Center, The Fresh Pot, Lupa Wine bar, Muddys Coffee House, North Portland Bike Works, Mississippi Records and Mississippi Pizza Pub. The Portland Community Media on MLK is Portland’s public access TV channels. Something I am personally enjoying and taking advantage of.

Inner SE Portland has always had a special place in my heart, for my first 5 years here I was in the Kerns neighborhood which borders Hawthorne. The Goodfoot, The Bonfire, Laurelhurst movie theater, Holmans, Beulahland, Whole foods… many great spots. But If were to list all of the hot spots in Hawthorne, this list would be 4 paragraphs long.

DOWNTOWN – Retire to Portland Oregon in a Penthouse Downtown Condo
Downtown Portland Oregon is a unique and hip part of Portland that has an abundance of charm, history, beauty and caricature. Downtown Portland borders Nob Hill and Goose Hollow and extends along the Willamette River as well as the 405 Fwy. Walking around downtown you will notice many narrow streets and compact blocks. This was in mind when Downtown was being built so walking around can be that much easier and more corner lot stores available. The accessibility to get around is excellent. Everything from the Street cars, tri-met bus’s, taxi’s, easy to bike, easy to walk, it is no wonder why Downtown Portland is one of the many highlights all of Portland has to offer. It is also no wonder why everyone loves to retire in Portland Oregon.
Portland State University (PSU) brings in thousands of people moving to Portland, Oregon and has the largest enrollment of any school in the state. During the past year PSU has awarded over 4000 Bachelor, Master, and Doctorate degrees in a wide variety of majors.
There are so many excellent restaurants, shops, pubs and cafe’s that it would be impossible to list them all. On a larger scale, here are a few places of interest - Portland’s Saturday Market, The Oregon Maritime Museum, Pioneer Courthouse Square, Portland Art Museum, Oregon Historical Society, Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall and Waterfront Park which hosts great events such as the Blues Festival, beer festivals, 4th of July festivals and so many others to mention. The night life in Downtown use to shut down around 8:00pm back in the 80’s but with an abundance of live music venues, restaurants, bars, museums, performance art, dance clubs and many other great places of interest, Downtown has become a place that stays alive well into the early morning and one of the reasons why so many people love the downtown area.
There is also the Portland Downtown Services Inc. that is committed to providing a safe and clean area by providing, Private security, sidewalk cleaning, graffiti removal and crime-prevention.
The downtown Portland Condo’s for sale are elegant to perfection. Penthouse’s with picturesque views and custom luxury floor plans. You will not find many single family residential homes for sale, most everything you will see will be condo’s. Condo prices range everywhere from $130,000 to $2,800,000, perfect for the PSU student or a couple seeking to retire in style. Retire to Portland.

Goose Hollow – Portland Realtors love this neighborhood, Portland Relocation
Goose Hollow Zip Code 97201 is located in SW Portland. Goose Hollow neighborhood is bordered by the Arlington Heights, Nob Hill, The Pearl District, and Downtown neighborhoods. Goose Hollow was named after the migrating geese who used to stop there to gather. It acquired its distinctive name through early residents’ practice of letting their geese run free throughout the wooded hollow in the Tualatin Mountains. Goose Hollow has one of the highest rated schools in the Portland School district. Lincoln HighSchool brings families all across the US moving into Portland.
I personally love driving through Goose Hollow in Southwest Portland just to enjoy the beautiful architecture of all of these homes and Condo’s. As a Portland Realtor, I have the honor of entering into many of these gorgeous floor plans and paradise backyards. Goose Hollow Condos and town homes can be Penthouses with ultimate privacy, masterfully designed with great views and contemporary styles. The MAX Light Rail system travels through the neighborhood, stopping at the PGE Park, Kings Hill/SW Salmon and Goose Hollow/SW Jefferson St stations. Whether you commute to downtown or west to Beaverton or Hillsboro, it’s a easy walk down the to a MAX stop from most parts of the neighborhood. Goose Hollow is also served by two major freeways: Interstate 405 (which divides it from Downtown Portland) and U.S. Route 26.
PGE Park is a multi-purpose sports facility located on the north edge of Goose Hollow. I think everyone is still waiting for Major League Baseball to come to Portland, but PGE is a bit too small to house such a large crowd. PGE Park is home to the Triple-A Baseball Portland Beavers and professional soccer’s Portland Timbers. The Timbers are a member of the United Soccer League and in 2011 they will join the major ranks when they play in the MLS. (not the Multiple Listing Service ![]()
Thinking of the perfect city to relax in…The October 2007 issue of Money Magazine named the Goose Hollow neighborhood as one of the best places to retire. Retire to Portland in style. The article states that, “Goose Hollow is walking distance to Washington Park, which is home to the Japanese Garden, the International Test Rose Garden and the Hoyt Arboretum. Goose Hollow’s Walk Score is in the 90’s out of 100, meaning this is one of the most walkable neighborhoods in Portland. Check out my Portland relocation guide if moving to Portland Oregon is on your Horizon.
As one of the original residential areas in Portland, Goose Hollow is marked by turn-of-the-century homes.”
A charming neighborhood, with a delightful mix of old and new. Goose Hollow’s streets are lined with older Portland homes dating from the turn of the century. Some former homes have been converted into law offices, coffee shops and other businesses, making this area a mix of residential and commercial. You can also expect to find many apartments, condo’s, duplex’s and multi-plex’s. Goose Hollow is home to some of Portland’s oldest dining establishments.
