People relocating to Portland Oregon love their wine.

Whether you are moving to Portland or a long time resident, Portland loves their wine. I have met many who vint thier own wine out of their basement celler. Blueberry, strawberry, boysenberry and of course grape wines are delicious and nutritious. You can also purchase many of these unique wines at your local food co-ops or health food stores.

Portland red wine

You can make an entire day of wine tasting throughout Portland and the surrounding areas or go to local Portland wine bars. Here are a few great local Portland wine spots to add to your list of places to go. Bishop Creek Cellars , Mt. Tabor Fine wines , Noble Rot , Vino Vixens , Pour , Wine Unwind and Vino Paradise.

If a Portland relocation is on your list and being surrounded by fine wines, wine bars and vineyards is a preferrence, the great Northwest is the place to be.

Post #29 of 101 cool Portland places. The Laurelhurst Pub.

The Laurelthirst Pub in the Laurelhurst neighborhood is a great place to stop by after work, grab a beer, eat some good food and then just sit back, relax and listen to a local Portland band perform live music. One of my local favorites are the Freak Mountain Ramblers that perform every Sunday around 6:00. Check them out.

They have a great deluxe nacho’s plate, several awesome micro brew beers on tap and many locals that haunt this location. When I first moved to Portland, this was my very first place I walked into while staying at the Portland Hostel on Hawthorne. I lived in the Buckman neighborhood and walked to the Laurelthirst quite often as my new favorite pub. Enjoy and have an IPA on me.

One of the oldest bars around, The Hutch on Glisan has been serving the Laurelhurst Neighborhood since 1925. It is a classic example of a neighborhood bar. Friendly staff and strong mixed drinks welcome a wide variety of patrons who enjoy everything from live music to shuffle board.

Wednesday night is Pub Quiz night courtesy of Sharnrock Triviology with a $100 worth of credit going to the winning team. Teams consist of five players and questions Trivia starts at 8 but your team may want to show up early as seats go pretty quick. The Hutch can also be called a Northeast Portland music venue thanks to the live music performances that take place every Saturday night.

The Hutch offers a wide range of beer and a well earned reputation for strong mixed drinks. They have a full lunch and dinner menu with daily food and beer specials. The bar is also open for breakfast on weekends, when an Irish coffee is just the ticket to warm up cold weather outings to the Saturday Market. Happy hour runs every weeknight from 4pm until 7 pm with special drink specials for Trivia contestants every Wednesday.

Welcome to the Kennedy School, located in the Northeast Portland Concordia neighborhood. McMenamins has renovated the once-abandoned scholastic gem and turned it into one Portland’s favorite hot spots among locals and out of state visitors.

Originally opened in 1915 as an elementary school, now Inside you will find everything from the old school auditorium turned into a movie theater with couches and tables to eat your home made pizza, to the detention hall turned into a whiskey and cigar room. The cafeteria now houses a fine eating establishment with a great menu and several home made beers on tap and a gift shop to pick up some great memories. A huge 20 person hot tub soaking pool and and an extra large conference room now hosts great live local and out of state performers of all types. The classrooms are turned into guest rooms with original chalkboards and cloakrooms, private baths, telephones and modems. Amazing artwork lines the walls, much of it dates back from the early years of The Kennedy Schools existence.

I love the scene and the good energy the school has. This is truly a must see experience to enjoy if you have yet to visit. The Kennedy is located at: 5736 N.E. 33rd Ave. Portland, OR 97211
